Daily Nugget #167 - Avoid the highway of disrespect.

Today will be a test of navigating the seas of disrespectful people. There are three categories:

  1. Those who disrespect your presence.
  2. Those who disrespect your love.
  3. Those who disrespect your time.
Category 1 - These individuals may be simply described as rude people. They may bump into you without saying excuse me, or ask to borrow things without gratitude or regard for returning them. Return their ugliness with kindness. As followers of Christ or persons seeking higher moral ground, we must use every moment to teach others what not to do. This response also reminds of us what we should be doing.

Category 2 - These individuals may repay your faithfulness with infidelity, your generosity with selfishness, or your compassion with judgment, when the tables are turned. A marriage is an eternal commitment, but counsel is always the best option. In a dating scenario, God may be allowing you to see flaws. Don't ignore the signs. Get a trusted 3rd party (counselor) involved, attempt to have an ope drama-free discussion, or seek God about terminating the relationship. To do nothing, is foolish and merely invites more abuse.

Category 3 - These individuals may live in a state of constant emergency. They seem to always need you right away, but are never available for you. They have time to request your resources, but may never have time for you. I am a firm believer in talking it out. But remember that there are only 24 hours in a day. My mentor taught me to embrace those that add to you and multiply you. However, be equally mindful of those that subtract from you and divide you.

To love others is a choice.

To love ourselves is what equips us to make that choice.

Make the rest of today the best.

Love you party people.
