In the presence of gossip, there should only be three responses:

1. Choose to defend the person, being spoken about.
2. Choose to politely remove yourself from the conversation.
3. Choose to remain silent and continue working.

All of these options give you the ability to separate yourself from the discussion.

None of the options are more correct in the other.

The responses simply vary, based on the level of courage that one possesses.

Participants in negative conversation, fail to realize one common denominator that exists, within this type of dialogue:

"People who participate in gossip, need only be absent from the next conversation, before coming the topic of discussion." - Dr.W.D.
