Have you ever noticed when visiting your local grocery story, that there is typically someone stationed there, to give out free samples?

There are 3 things we must consider about free samples:

1. The product is not in high demand. (common)
2. The samples are on display for all to see. (exposed)
3. They never cost much at all; as a matter of fact, they're normally free. (devalued)

In contrast, when you visit your local jeweler to view a diamond, there are also other characteristics that should be noted as well:

1. The diamonds are always behind glass (hidden) and under camera surveillance (protected)
2. The diamonds are never in plain sight and are of high value (priceless)
3. They are readily available to the general public or passers-by. (rare)
