I want to thank you again, for accompanying me on this journey of self discovery. It is my hope that we are all inspired to transform our lives and the lives of those around us with what we take from today's Daily Nugget.
I am only beginning to uncover the infinite power that has been bestowed upon each of us, in the form of spoken words.
Our words have the ability to create kingdoms. However, with the hearer's permission, our words can also destroy someone who hasn't uncovered their true identity.
Our words have a few characteristics that I've listed for us to review:
- Words create atmosphere. - They give light or darkness.
- Words are seeds. - They reproduce after their own kind.
- Words are boomerangs. - They come from us, but they return to us as well.
- Words cannot be revoked. - Once they are spoken, they remain with the hearer for a lifetime.
Here are 6 keys to empowering ourselves and those around with our words:
- When someone raises their voice, for whatever reason, respond in a lower tone.
- When gossip presents itself, we must make every effort to excuse ourselves.
- When someone says hurtful things, remind ourselves of who we really are. Most importantly, we must resist the urge to give the person "a piece of our minds."
- Do not offer an opinion or counsel, unless requested.
- Find one positive thing that about one person, each day, and share it with them.
- Speak out one goal and one self-affirming statement. (Ex. I will start my radio talk show in 2011. People that meet me enjoy my company, because I make them feel special when they are in my presence.)
Now.......for the good news......
God foreknew every hurt that we would undergo in life. He allowed us to experience these pains for one simple reason:
God will use whatever He must, to free us from the opinions of people. It is only at the moment that we attain this freedom, that we are truly equipped to accomplish what we were created to do.
So what is the point, you ask?
Simply put, God uses sticks and stones to build up the strength we need to accomplish our life's mission. The mission is discovered through relationship with Him, but the strength comes from the internal battles. We do taste both victory and defeat; and both of them shape us. But He also wants us to use our words to build up others; not tear them down.
Every day presents a new opportunity to create a masterpiece.
We must build our dreams and build people. It will return to us, infinitely multiplied.
Good night.
