Protege' Chronicles - Step 1 - How to choose a mentor.

A person who is not submitted to authority, is unqualified to lead, because he or she has chosen not to allow someone else to consistently speak correction into his or her life. This is symptomatic of pride: one who is able to teach others, but is personally unteachable is a time bomb, waiting to blow up.

Eddie Long, Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich, Kobe Bryant, Jim Bakker, and Jimmy Swaggart are no less perfect than you or I. They simply made decisions to not be personally accountable to someone else about their private lives. So when they fell, no one was there to tap them on the shoulder and say, "Do you realize the potential consequences that could ensue, if you do what you're thinking about doing?"

If you are uncertain as to whether or not a potential mentor is personally accountable to someone, simply ask them. Once you identify the mentor's mentor, you may consider verifying this with the third party that they've mentioned to you. If they say that they are not accountable to anyone, do not give ear to their words.

No human is perfect. But without accountability, you are contending with imperfection and petential arrogance. One deficiency is cool, but both combined, are a reeipe for drama.

We shall continue the Chronicles soon.
